Head Coach/Assistant Coach Relationship Discussion on the "Hardwood Hustle"

I was excited to be a guest on the "Hardwood Hustle" podcast this summer. Adam Bradley and TJ Rosene have an excellent podcast for basketball coaches, but a lot of what they discuss is appropriate for coaches in all sports. The episode I was on is an example of a discussion that is appropriate for coaches of any sport.
On the podcast, we discussed the Head Coach/Assistant Coach Relationship. As many of you know, I am a speaker for Proactive Coaching. However, I also have 6 of my own presentations that I do for schools, teams, leagues, and coaching clinics. My most-requested presentation is "The Head Coach/Assistant Coach Relationship: Learning to Work Together." I did that presentation this summer at the Team Sport Conference & Expo in Chicago, and Adam Bradley was one of the other speakers at the conference. He wanted to attend my presentation, but he had to leave the conference prior to hearing me speak, so he invited me to be on his podcast to discuss some of the elements of that relationship that I discuss in the presentation.
My presentation is based on my two booklets "A Head Coach’s Guide for Working with Assistants" and "The Assistant Coach’s Guide to Coaching."

I wrote those booklets as I was working through a couple of issues with some of the coaches on my staff when I was an athletic director. As I worked through those issues, I did not find a lot of information out there – either in writing or video – on the head coach and assistant coach relationship.

I had a lot of ideas that I wrote down to help me work through the issues my coaches were having with each other, so I could help them work together better. The more I wrote, the more I realized I had the makings for a booklet. At first as I was writing, I was focused on the head coach. However, I realized about halfway through writing it I needed to write one for the assistant coaches, too. That is how the booklets were born. I then turned the information into the booklets into the presentation.

The booklets are in both a hard copy format and an eBookformat, and they can be bought in a 2-Pack Bundle.
